Who Are We?
The cooperative is situated in the Municipality of Pres. Roxas, North Cotabato Province. Organized as a Consumer Store in November 4, 1983 by a group of (47) pioneer members, composed mostly of small farmers, with an initial paid-up capital of P 7,000.00. As its membership and asset grows, the cooperative expand its services to include agri-products buying and selling and provision of small loans to farmers for their agricultural inputs.
For almost two (2) years the cooperative operate without any legal personality but in 1985 it was registered with the Regional Cooperative Development Authority (RCDAO) Region 12 and bear the name of Sta. Catalina Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SCMPC) in honor of the patron saint of the Catholic Church of the Municipality of Pres. Roxas, North Cotabato Province.
From then the cooperative pursued an aggressive build-up of its post harvest facilities (i.e. multi-pass rice mill, solar drier, warehouse, hauling trucks, rice thresher, & corn sheller equipment) to effectively served the needs of the members. Small satellite cooperatives in six (6) barangays of Pres. Roxas were also organized thru the funding assistance coming from foreign donor agencies with SCMPC providing the counterpart. The purpose of this is to bring the services of the cooperative closer to the members. In year 2000 the cooperative decided to focus in savings and credit program while maintaining its other business operations. Through the assistance of CUES-Phil. (Cooperative Union Empowerment and Strengthening Phil. Project), the cooperative implemented the MCUB Technology (Model Cooperative Union Technology) which is the adherence to strict prudential standards and financial discipline. The program also launched a series of credit management and human resource development training to increase the capability of the cooperative management in running a savings and credit program.
In a span of eight (8) years SCMPC was able to open 11 branches in the Province of North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Bukidnon Province. Head Office is located at Poblacion, Pres. Roxas, North Cotabato. As of November 30, 2008 regular members is 10,000 and total asset of P 225 million. In 2007 the Gen. Assembly passed a resolution to amend the by-laws specifically in the area of coverage of SCMPC from Mindanao Island to add the Visayas Island. This in preperation of establishing branches in Panay Island in 2009.
